Just over 30 miles off the western tip of Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly have their own distinctive flavour that makes them an extremely attractive destination for holiday makers. Fine white sand beaches, palm trees, crystal-clear water, and a temperate climate are all part of the broad appeal of this wonderful cluster of islands, along with a community that’s keen to welcome visitors.
The Isles of Scilly, sometimes known as either the Fortunate Islands or Sunshine Islands, are made up of approximately 100 islands. Five of these are inhabited – St. Agnes, Bryher, St. Mary’s, St. Martin’s and Tresco – and between them they offer beautiful beaches with sparkling, clear waters, abundant nature, hiking trails, and peace and serenity. Watersport opportunities are plentiful, or if you fancy letting others do the work, come and witness the World Gig Championships that take place each May. A world away from so much of the hustle and bustle of modern day life, the Isles of Scilly can provide you with the most relaxing of escapes.
