Mention Perranporth to anyone who has been and you will be inundated with enthusiastic recommendations. It is indeed a North Cornwall gem. Its three-mile beach is one of those vast swathes of sand the Cornish coast is so famous for, and it's likely you'll feel as if you have it all to yourself, such is its size. The beach is for everyone - surfers, swimmers, snorkelers, families, dog walkers and even horse riders.
For more dramatic views of the rolling Atlantic Ocean, head up to the clifftop coastal path and do the 4-mile walk to the pretty village of St Agnes.
This is Poldark country and you can see why the author, Winston Graham, was inspired to create his series of brooding novels while gazing out to sea from his writing studio here. That being said, you don't need to be a Poldark fan to marvel at the splendour of this area.
