FOREST MILL COTTAGE
Forest Mill Cottage is located on the Herefordshire/Welsh border on the Eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is a superbly converted former mill situated in a beautiful valley at the foot of the Black Hill alongside the upper reaches of the River Monnow.
This self-catering cottage is beautifully renovated and whilst keeping lots of original features it also benefits from modern luxuries. The cottage sleeps up to six guests in two bedrooms; The River Room has a luxurious king size bed and views across to the River and The Hobbit Room can either be arranged as a twin room or a super-king depending on guests’ requirements. Each room can also host a single sofa bed or The River Room has space to host both single sofa beds making a great family room. Downstairs the cottage features a fantastic kitchen diner, which is great for socialising and a very cosy and home from home sitting room with open beams and toasty warm wood burner. Outside the cottage sits within its own private and secure wraparound patio with comfortable patio furniture and BBQ.
The cottage currently shares a large garden with your hosts but coming later this year will be an exclusive use, private and secure garden for guests to enjoy. The river borders one edge of the garden and is simply great for dogs and kids to splash around in and explore. Forest Mill Cottage is very dog friendly and there is no real upper limit to the number of dogs but we always welcome a conversation before booking to ensure we are suitable for multi-dogs. There are no limits as to where dogs can go in the cottage as they are family members too! Guests are, however, asked to bring their own bedding and throws if dogs are likely to climb on the furniture.
There are some fantastic walks direct from the cottage up onto the Black Hill and beyond further into the Brecon Beacons. A short drive out will take into the midst of the Beacons where guests can enjoy, horse riding, mountain biking, gorge walking/climbing and various other outdoor pursuits. The Wye Valley also provides some amazing walking routes and trips including canoeing and fishing. There are two fantastic pubs just over a mile away in each direction from the cottage, which serve great food and are dog friendly.
